Crystals for fear have been used for centuries to help people overcome panic and phobias. There are many different types of crystals that can be used for this purpose, each with its own unique properties and benefits.
If you struggle with deep fear and panic attacks, crystals can be a good support together with conventional treatment. Make sure you consult with a doctor or therapist to find the best treatment for your situation. Crystals should not be used as a replacement for professional medical care!
Panic attacks can have many triggers. If you have experienced them, the first step is to recognize and understand the trigger. In some cases, these are very obvious, in others, they might be more difficult to pinpoint, which can make the situation more difficult to manage.
Once you have identified the trigger, crystals can help you to stay in the present, remember your mantras, and ground you. Different crystals have different properties, and if you strongly believe that you have found the right crystal for your situation, this will be very beneficial for its ability to be a lifeline for you.
Crystals for Negative Thoughts as Triggers of Fear
If you are struggling with an overactive mind filled with negative thoughts that pull you into a spiral of worry and fear, black tourmaline is a good choice.
This crystal helps to protect against negative energy and provides inner strength. This root chakra stone is also very grounding and helps you to stay connected to the earth, which can be helpful when your thoughts try to pull you away from the present.

Rose quartz, the love crystal, is a popular stone for emotional healing. This crystal has calming and soothing properties that can help to ease stress and anxiety. It promotes self-love and acceptance, which can be helpful in overcoming negative thoughts or irrational fears.

Crystals for Anxious Thoughts
If you find yourself in a difficult situation or stressful circumstances and start to feel anxious or fearful, try using tiger’s eye. This stone helps you to stay calm and grounded in the present moment, even when things around you are chaotic. It is also a powerful protective stone that wants to take care of you.

For general feelings of fear or anxiety, blue lace agate is a good choice. This crystal has calming and soothing properties that can help to ease your nervous system. It is also said to be helpful in releasing negative experiences from the past and can aid you in healing from trauma.

Smoky quartz is a powerful protective stone that helps to shield you from negative energy. It is also a helpful stone when you are trying to release negative emotions or experiences from the past so anxious thoughts will stop haunting you.

Soothing Stones
Even if you are in therapy and have a good grasp on what your triggers are, sometimes stressful situations can’t be avoided, for example, if you have a fear of heights but have to take a trip that will take you over a bridge (that’s what happened to me quite regularly, fear of heights is very inconvenient).
In these cases, it is good to have a crystal that can help to ease your anxiety and calm your nerves.

It is helpful in difficult or chaotic situations, and I love having it as my lifeline when I know I will have to face my fears.

Another soothing stone that is helpful in easing anxiety and calming the nerves is amethyst. This violet crystal is one of the most popular crystals for protection and healing. It has been used since ancient times for its ability to soothe the mind and body.

Crystals for Fear of Change
Change can be scary, whether it is a change in your personal life, such as a new job or relationship, or a change that is happening in the world around you. Maybe you have even experienced panic attacks because you feel like you don’t have enough control over the changes in your life.
When you have to leave your comfort zone in a particularly uncomfortable way, crystals can help to ease your anxiety and give you strength and energy.
For example, if you are starting a new job, crystals such as citrine or labradorite can help to ease your fears, give you a boost in energy, and give you the confidence to succeed.
Citrine is known as the success stone because it promotes positive energy and attracts abundance. It helps you to overcome your fears and makes you feel ready to take risks so that you can achieve your goals.

Labradorite is another great crystal for confidence and success. It is known as the stone of bravery because it gives you the strength to face your fears head on.

Chakra Healing
The chakras are the energy centers in the body that correspond to different emotions and physical areas. For example, the root chakra is associated with feelings of safety and security, while the heart chakra is associated with love and compassion.
If you find yourself feeling anxious or fearful, it may be because one of your chakras is out of balance. Three chakras are specifically prone to causing forms of anxiety when they are out of balance.
When the root chakra is out of balance, you may feel anxious or afraid because you don’t feel like you are anchored in the present moment. This might be specifically connected to feelings of dissociation, of “standing next to your body”.
The solar plexus chakra is associated with your personal power and confidence. When this chakra is out of balance, you may feel like you are not in control of your life or that other people are putting their will over yours. This can lead to feelings of fear, powerlessness, and even panic attacks.
The throat chakra is located at the base of the throat and is associated with communication and expression. When this chakra is out of balance, you may feel like you can’t express yourself or that you are not being heard. This can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, and even fear.
If you have a fear of public speaking, choosing a soothing throat chakra crystal like blue lace agate is perfect for you!
Healing crystals can be used to balance all of the chakras, but there are some that are specifically helpful for anxiety and fear. For example, smoky quartz is a great stone for balancing the root chakra. It helps you to feel more grounded and connected to the present moment.
Crystals such as amethyst or lapis lazuli can be helpful in balancing the throat chakra. Amethyst helps you to communicate your feelings clearly and with compassion, while lapis lazuli gives you the courage to speak your truth.

How to use Crystals for Fear
My favorite way to use crystals for fear and panic is definitely to wear them as beaded bracelets or necklace. I feel like the constant direct skin contact helps me benefit from the crystals’ energy.
And I often notice them, which helps me remember my mantras and stay in the present. I also like fiddling with them, which works particularly well in this form.
If you don’t want to wear jewelry, you can carry your crystals for fear as pocket stones. Buy tumbled crystals and put 1 or 2 crystals for fear in your pocket. Just make sure you take them out regularly!
Another option for carrying your crystals for fear with you is to create spell bags. I really love them! Preparing them is a very meditative practice, and the crystals are well protected in their little pouch while being able to work energetically for you.

More so than with any other use for healing crystals, I’m convinced that carrying crystals for fear with you throughout the day is the best way you can use them since they can constantly ground you and give you back energy that fear might have sucked away.
However, under certain conditions – or in addition to carrying your crystals – you can also work with them in other ways:
If your fears are triggered by people in your life that you cannot currently get away from (be it at work or at home), consider placing big stones or spell bags in areas where you have to deal with the toxic person. The stones will have your back!
If you have a fear of driving, placing crystals in your car can be very helpful as well.
And if you have panic attacks, you can create a safe space for yourself, e.g., in your bedroom, with many crystals that will help you to calm down, lower your stress levels, and recover. Good choices would be large raw rose quartz here to soothe your nerves, black tourmaline to create a protective bubble around you, and clear quartz to clear away negative thoughts about yourself or your fear.
When you are trying to recover from a panic attack, you can also lie down, close your eyes, and place soothing and grounding crystals for fear directly on your skin.
This is a particularly powerful technique when you use crystals that resonate with the root and solar plexus chakra.
Place them directly on that chakra point, e.g., black obsidian on your root chakra to help with the feeling of overwhelm, and citrine on your solar plexus chakra to dispel feelings of unhappiness and sadness from the experience.
