We talked about crystals as part of mindfulness practice earlier. So, in most cases, you want your crystal close to you. Ideally, you would take it along during your daily life. That’s why crystal beaded bracelets are so popular and often the first choice of crystals for beginners!
If jewelry isn’t your thing, pocket stones are a great alternative. Taking them in your hand is a great way of grounding yourself, putting yourself into the present moment, and reminding yourself of your intentions.

For quite a while, I had a little table zen garden with different stones and crystal figurines. I would place the stones on the sand like in a healing grid. This is a very meditative practice that doesn’t force you to be still.
Crystal grids are a slightly more advanced technique, as they require you to have a bigger crystal collection to choose from. You set up a geometric pattern on which you arrange different crystals that can then amplify each other.
A very direct form of crystal work that is ideal for beginners is holding them in your hand while meditating!

They are very meditative in addition to being good for my stones.

I always recommend that you choose the charging method based on your intention. If you want an energizing crystal that helps you reach your goals, you will want to choose a different method than for a soothing crystal that should help you stay calm and relaxed.
If your crystal feels very smooth and hard, it’s usually safe to wash under running water. This is also my preferred method of cleansing crystal bracelets as they touch the skin. The same goes for gua sha facial rollers.
Leaving your crystals in sunlight or moonlight are great ways to both cleanse and charge them at the same time. But not every stone is water-safe or sun-safe!
You can also use incense and swirl the smoke around the crystals to cleanse them. This is a great method for very sensitive stones, as is charging them with Selenite.
